Housing

Need a place to stay in Antwerp during your exchange? Not sure which costs you have to calculate? Here's what you need to know.

Looking for a place

AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts does not have own student residences. We have a small number of student rooms available, but these are reserved for short term use (less than one semester).

If you want to spend a full semester in Belgium, we advise you to use Kotweb to look for suitable accomodation. Kotweb is a collaboration between the city of Antwerp, Antwerp's higher education institutions and student community STAN.

WHY IS KOTWEB THE PLACE TO BE?

  • Kotweb is the largest database of student rooms in Antwerp.
  • They work with a unique quality label which makes it easy to see if a room meets all the necessary health and safety standards. You can easily spot which rooms get a stamp of approval if you use the Kotweb search engine.
  • They have a model lease with which you're always safe. You can easily spot which landlords use the model contract via the Kotweb search engine.
  • You can easily spot which language(s) a landlord speaks via the Kotweb search engine.

Signing your rental agreement

Here are some important things to keep in mind if you're going to rent a place.

  • Every rental agreement must be in writing. Both you and your landlord should receive an original copy of the contract that is signed by both parties
  • Never sign a document you don't understand! Always ask for an English translation.
  • Do you have a question or dispute about your rental agreement? Get in touch with our Student Center colleagues for help or advice.
