Lowie Spriet

Lowie Spriet is the Technology Research Lead and researcher at the Immersive Lab of AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts. With a background in Electronics-ICT, AI, and game design, he collaborated with the company Rombit to create a full-stack facial recognition prototype for applications in the Port of Antwerp. He contributed to various projects, such as the VR project in collaboration with Antwerp city poet Maud Vanhauwaert, which was showcased at the Wintervuur Festival in 2019. He also worked on the Holo-Robotics project, for which his team won the IoT Audience Award. This project combined Mixed Reality with conventional robotics to develop a prototype that allows you to control a robotic arm via MS Hololens.

Lowie is a strong advocate for multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers from different fields. Both inside and outside the laboratory, he promotes this collaboration by supporting researchers in projects that transcend traditional disciplines. His passion for multidisciplinarity is also evident in his free time: he serves as the technical leader within the artist collective StudioPOC.
